The built-in battery is a backup battery for emergency scenarios and we do not recommend using the device without it being connected to an external power supply (i.e. the vehicles battery). It will last from a few hours to a couple of days depending on usage and settings (the device can be configured through the app to upload locations from every 5 seconds upwards).
